Custom-built LMT High-Pressure Power Unit supports Denys in the construction of the 30 km CO₂ pipeline for the Porthos project

At LMT Waterjetting Solutions, we design and build tailor-made solutions with ultra-high-pressure water technology. Our LMT Power Units are deployed worldwide across various sectors, always adapted to the specific needs of the customer. The units are powered by KAMAT high-pressure pumps. As the official KAMAT dealer for the Benelux, we deliver powerful solutions up to 4,200 bar.

Recently, we proudly delivered a high-pressure unit to Denys, an international construction and engineering company specializing in sustainable infrastructure. This unit will initially be used in the landmark Porthos project in Rotterdam, where it will pressurize pipelines to ensure leak testing and system integrity.

About the Porthos Project

The Porthos project is building the Netherlands’ first large-scale CO₂ transport and storage system. Starting in 2024, a nearly 30-kilometer pipeline will be constructed along the A15, with an additional 20 kilometers offshore. From 2026 onward, CO₂ from Rotterdam’s industry will be safely stored in empty gas fields beneath the North Sea, an important step toward a climate-neutral Netherlands.

CCS and Climate Goals
The Netherlands has set clear climate goals: by 2030, greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced by 55%, and by 2050 the country must be fully climate neutral. CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) is a key technique in achieving these objectives. In the Rotterdam port area—responsible for around 14% of the country’s total emissions, CCS provides the fastest and most cost-efficient method to substantially reduce emissions. This is particularly crucial for industries such as chemicals, hydrogen production, and refining.

A Link in the Energy Transition
Porthos aligns seamlessly with the Dutch Climate Agreement and, alongside other measures such as renewable energy, residual heat, insulation, and electrification, forms an essential link in the energy transition.

Working together with Denys

We are proud that our LMT Power Unit supports Denys in realizing this innovative and sustainable project. Denys was selected for the engineering and construction of the pipeline and emphasizes that sustainability is at the core of both design and execution.

At LMT, we share that vision: our technology contributes to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable processes. We wish Denys every success in executing this important project.
